Here you will find answers to the frequently asked questions (FAQs) about our services.  Getting you moving, keeping you moving!

Consultations are £85 and last up to 60 minutes.  At your first appointment we will discuss your presenting complaint and your medical history.  During follow-up appointments we tend to get straight into examination and treatment.

No, anyone can see an Osteopath and most people self-refer or are referred by friends.  This is especially important to know due to the current long waiting times to see a GP.  After all, the quicker we address the problem, the sooner it can get better.

If you are planning to use private health insurance please check with them first as they often require referral letters.

You may feel tender after your treatment.  The majority of clients see symptom improvements within the first 24 hours post treatment although some describe a feeling of muscle soreness similar to that of having done a good workout.  This can last 24-48 hours.  However, if you are concerned, or are experiencing any sickness or dizziness, please get in touch.

Whilst I appreciate that sometimes priorities can change, please give 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

I am registered with some insurance companies; however I do not invoice them directly.  Instead I can provide you with an invoice in order for you to claim reimbursement.  Please check with your insurer in advance to check their requirements for your claim.

If you are using WPA insurance my provider number is 920638292.

Recently I have worked with clients using WPA Insurance, Aviva and Medicash.

I use osteopathic principles to help you find your natural pain-free movement.  The time it takes to achieve this is often dependent on your symptoms, the time you have had them and your general health and well being.  As a general rule, long standing conditions usually take more time to improve or resolve than recent injuries.

Personalised Healthcare

We will discuss your particular situation and I will give you an idea of how many treatments may be needed.  Generally I find that most people feel improvement within 2-3 sessions and some only need 1.  Some people find it useful to come back at regular intervals for protective or maintenance care.

Of course! You are most welcome to bring anyone to your appointment.  You will need to answer questions about your health and medical history so please make sure you are comfortable talking in front of your companion/s.  I understand that some people may need to bring babies/children along.  Whilst this isn’t ideal (as it can be hard to relax fully) I am happy to accommodate you and work with you in any way I can. Accordingly, I can provide toys to keep them occupied.

If you are under the age of 16, you cannot be treated without your parent or guardian present.

It shouldn’t hurt. Some techniques can feel a bit uncomfortable especially if your joints or muscles are already tender.  I can usually tell when I am working somewhere particularly painful and will always work with you to find the best approach.  Hence I use a number of techniques, so if you are finding something uncomfortable please let me know and we can try a different method.  Feel free to ask questions throughout your appointment as feedback and good communication are vital to your recovery.

No, actually there are many techniques that I can use and although manipulative techniques themselves can be beneficial, and often gentle, they are not suitable for everyone.  If you don’t want to have your joints manipulated, then I will happily use alternative techniques.

For a complete recovery there are probably things you will need to do at home.  We will work together to come up with a simple to follow and implement plan to get you moving better and keep you moving.

Bookings for the same day do not appear on the online booking calendar however may still be possible to arrange.  Please phone or WhatsApp Robyn Phillips on 07914 821 259 or email robyn@parksideosteopathy.co.uk.
